DESCRIPTION: The Adult Basic Education/High School Equivalency (ABE/HSE) teacher will plan and provide instruction to students at a range of skill levels from below high school level (ABE, College and Career Readiness Standards Levels C-D) through upper level high school work (GED and HISET exam preparation, College and Career Readiness Standards Level E).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a part of the Adult School Academic Department to provide instruction for the development of academic skills, study skills and test-taking skills of adult learners. Based on learner goals and abilities, differentiate instruction using various grouping strategies, sensory modalities, and learning activities and resources. Assess and give students timely, high qualit feedback. Nurture a safe and positive learning environment in the classroom. Report attendance in a timely manner using web-based attendance accounting system. Complete and submit all required data accountability documentation in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid, non emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in appropriate subjects (Community College credential is not acceptable). Succcessful adult teaching experience demonstrating skill in course planning, instruction, student assessment and evaluation in the subject areas strongly desired. Skill in teaching math required. Experience in delivering instruction using varied modalities, and using differentiated instruction. Ability to engage and support all learners, and to motivate them to persist. Experience working with adults of diverse backgrounds. Ability to plan instruction aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education. Ability to integrate technology into instruction. Flexibility to meet needs of learners is required. Ability to work with teachers, staff, and administrators in a collaborative, productive, and supportive manner. Additional criteria will include, but not be limited to, experience, training and seniority.
Other requirements: All applicants should prepare and submit a sample lesson plan, and bring it to the interview. Candidates may be invited to give a short demo lesson. NOTE: Assignment to this position is made subject to change and/or cancellation if circumstances warrant.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
