Role Description:
Form Energy has an exciting opportunity for a senior mechanical engineer to join our talented systems engineering team within the technology group in our Berkeley, CA, location.
This multidisciplinary team is focused on delivering the product enclosure and auxiliary systems design for our energy storage system.
This is a new position and will ideally suit someone with expertise in 2D drafting and 3D modeling using CAD, designing mechanical enclosures and structures, willing to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on, experience working with contract manufacturers, and experience in taking a product into high-volume manufacturing.

Design and test BESS enclosures to critical performance & functional requirements, optimizing for manufacturability, material weight, and cost Perform trade studies for cost & schedule to inform project teams in making design decisions Participate in critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition enclosure designs from prototype to high-volume productionDevelop CAD model and create enclosure drawings for fabricationDrive discussions across teams to inform design decisionsDevelop verification plans for enclosure testingPerform compliance studies/testing for purchased componentsWhat you'll bring:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3 to 7 years of industry experience in mechanical designProficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools such as Solidworks, Catia, CREODirect experience with optimizing the mechanical design with interdisciplinary interfaces and a wide variety of metal manufacturing processes (sheet metal fabrication a plus)Experience in product development within an early-stage environmentExperience with first-principles modeling and design and experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-downHighly desired - prior experience in Energy Storage, Battery Systems, Renewable Energy, Utility, and other related industry experience#LI-DNIHumanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
